He did the Hoooookey Pokey

or at least in my mind he did. Tonight was the 8th grade dance. Drew fancied up with the help of his stylist Hunter, and went with a sweet girl M.

Hunter was so patient with him and took great pride and care of his hair and appearance. He even taught him how to swing his head just right so as to get his hair to lay just so. Unfortunately, Drew doesn't have the interest in his hair like Hunter does.

"The Untouchables"

After the dance-he had had enough of that tie; two hours is way too much fancy time for a guy whose uniform is tee shirts and cozy shorts.

Our son is so talented, isn't she lucky to be with him?

Off to the after party......Cheers to Junior High.

"Brothers from other Mothers"

and sisters for that matter. I love it when kids just show up - that seems to be the mantra these days. They come with food, instruments and lots of personality. Gone are the days of our "land line" ringing. They communicate with each other and make their own plans on cellphones. Which I LOVE. It is very peaceful not having the phone ring off the hook, which is what it would be like because they are ALWAYS texting, talking, facebooking, i-chatting with SOMEONE! And they seem to be "hanging out" together more.

Here's just a small portion of our extended family :)

Sunday Best

Today was Sunday School Teacher Appreciation- Joe and I got a bag full of goodies and sweet notes from our class. At the bottom of the bag was a note that said, "We were going through old pictures, came across this one and thought you would like to have it." Like to have it? I'd like to turn the clock back to that day!

The back was dated 8/26/06.

On This Day in History

This steeple for our new church was set in place. A friend and I had a picnic and watched.

Afterward, I went grocery shopping, picked Drew and Hunter up from school-along with a few other friends, came home and made "first dinner"-that's a topic for another post. Just watching those guy work wore me out! I needed some rest time- plus, I could hear the kids outside in the pool/hot tub and they sounded happy.

It wasn't until Joe came home asking for the camera to take pictures of them that I thought-maybe I should look out the window. But I didn't, I rolled over and enjoyed the solitude. Besides, they were playing, I could hear them, no one was hurt, they were laughing, singing everything from "Jesus Loves Me" to Lady Antebellum and everything in between. Then I saw the pictures.

Ryan- is that you? I didn't even know you were here!

Where's Kody? He WAS here, I thought.

Moral to the story is, I may not know your kid is here, but as long as they're happy and no one's crying- It's ALL Good!

PS- They've left the "hot tub time machine" and are in the house playing their instruments. As for me, Joe and I are in our hide out until it blows over- it's a good Friday night :)

I Love Him

There I said it- When I asked Joe to paint our office he didn't bat an eye-because he thought I meant only the red wall. I didn't, I meant the whole room.

To be continued...........

It was Hunter's turn to serve the confirmation class- guess who showed up to have his brother wait on him.

Waiter, Waiter......Yes, How may I serve you.....Nevermind.

So sweet- love those boys.

Look who ran the kitchen. Good times.

They're #1 and We Couldn't Be Prouder!

It's 6:15 am Saturday morning and Drew can't dress himself-if you asked him he would say he can, but chooses not to! Notice Joe and Drew are almost nose to nose:)

See Hunter in the background, dressing himself. Know what they both can do? Go to a UIL competition and get ALL #1s!

For the 2nd song Drew is 2nd from the left on the last row.

Happy Birthday Queen B!

We celebrated a couple of weeks ago with dinner and a Casting Crowns Concert.

We sing the "Voice of Truth" and the Queen does an awesome bridge:

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I'm so blessed to call you friend, I hope you have a GREAT day!

Healed

Hunter's arm is whole again. He recently had the last pin taken out, ending our 7 month relationship with his orthopedist-the guy in the glasses next to him bed side. He couldn't have been kinder to Hunter or his two freaked out parents!

Post-Its

I got some birthday love last month

in the form of post-its all over my car.

Which is super cute

and so thoughtful.

But it rained on my parade

and the post-its bled through turning my car pink. Which was fine with me, I need a little more pink in my life:)

You can't see her face but Snow is freaking out.....trying to get the pink off...which she did.

Sunday Best

Last Sunday our youth director's 3rd baby was baptised.

Drew used the opportunity to debut his fancy blazer. It was fun seeing all the guys dressed up.

Our church is casual. Really casual. I can't think of any other place you can have your baptism,

In February...Love was in the Air

Junior High Cafeteria love....

Hunter and Ryan went to their first school dance.....

with these two sweet girls

two-month-a-versary love

They must want something-teenagers don't show this kind of affection without an agenda.

We really knew something was up when Drew let a girl play with his hair......that can only mean one thing. Not the Drew we know and love.

Mind the Gap

........a British term warning to train passengers of the gap between the train door and the station platform.

A few weeks ago Joe and I taught Junior High Sunday School and the theme "Mind the Gap" fit perfect. We thought, planned, prayed. OK, I planned, Joe bought the Do-nuts:) both equally important. I really thought I had a lesson that was out of the box. In other words, I brought it.

We talked about what stands between us and God. EVERY TIME I asked a question...they had "the" answer.....How do we get to God...Jesus. How many brownie point does is take to get to heaven....Zero. Can you earn your way in.....no. What is Grace....an undeserved gift. If I work in a soup kitchen everyday for the rest of my life.....does it make me a better Christian....No.

I guess they brought it too! They're makin'em smarter these days! We're going to talk "feelings" next, can't wait.

Oh, and we sang my new favortire song Hold Us Together by Matt Maher.

Drew minding his gap-the pins on his sport coat say "Bring Conan back fall 2010".

Church, Church and more Church...Today we went to Church!

I had the pleasure of spending time with a few ladies from my church to visit area churches and get design ideas for our new church. Here's what we saw...

I had no idea!

A couple of months ago our MFY had an air band/lip sync competition. Usually I would go and video, but this night I wasn't feelin' it. My mistake-Drew and Hunter get in the car and say how AWESOME it was and how EVERYONE Loved theirs!!! So, of course I'm kicking myself. Fast forward to yesterday when I'm looking for something to blog and Hunter says "oh yeah- our lip sync is on YouTube." I love it when other people video tape/take pictures! Thanks soooo much.
