While the Cat's away......

the mice lay in his bed.

Drew's been gone so much that Hunter has had to resort to laying in his bed to get his "Drew fix". He's not the only one-SLW esquire needed alittle Drew time too.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Dear Kelly,

I saw this and thought of you. Love, Drew

PS- Your dogs are loud.

I'm seriously questioning our parenting skills.

Did you know they have sisters.......

and other brothers too. Friendship has gone to another level, now everyone isn't just friends, they're each others siblings. On facebook Hunter has listed 5 brothers and 4 sisters plus Drew.

This is one of their sweet sisters

She brought Drew cookies the night before school started- I couldn't throw the box away without taking a picture.

Too Pretty Not to Take a Picture

In the spirit of the first week of school, I've made dinner every night, I repeat EVERY NIGHT . Plus lunches, plus breakfast. Our kitchen has been hoppin' like something out of Mel's diner. Last night being no different I made this beautiful creation.

But did anyone show up to eat it.......no! After a killer band practice Drew went to a friends house and Hunter went to Bible study. So Joe and I got to have a peaceful dinner alone-and let's be honest, all the food prep is really for him. Drew and Hunter would much rather have a meal that comes in a bag from a take out window.

All in a Days Work

There is something seriously wrong when Hunter leaves the house before the majority is awake. Like leave the house to the tune of 5:50am! We got a note home saying "cross country is in full swing" how can that be on DAY 2?! And I was feeling sorry for Drew because he starts school at 7:30 and stays after for band practice until 5:30 in 100plus degree heat.

He's in the middle row-light blue and white hat.

But he didn't have to do this.....end his day at a cotillion meeting and walk arm in arm with a girl!

Don't feel too bad, he got cookies as payment for pain and suffering following his 17 hour activity packed day.

Ooh-La-La

To celebrate the first day of school- A and I got everyone cupcakes. And JUST for quality assurance, we try them too. I was fully expecting to be underwhelmed by this new craze. But Ooh, La, La did not disappoint. Their cupcakes are divine!

Band Camp

Tonight marked the end of 3 weeks of summer band camp. They showed parents what they've learned and encouraged them, if they were brave, to march with them.

One of those Sousaphones has Hunter's name written all over it- and he can't wait to get his hands on it next year.

See you on the field- first game is 9/9!

The Boys of Summer

In keeping with the theme "we vacation separately", parents verses kids. Here are pictures from their big adventure out west. They saw Aunt, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents, Mickey Mouse, a TV set, the Pacific ocean and so much more.......

As in "legitimate." I guess they give permits to anyone......... So, if you see either of our cars and are cut off, tailgated, or sped past......it's NOT US.....it's our 15 year at the wheel!!!!

California Gurls...

I've heard of husbands and wives taking separate vacations, but never parents and kids. But when my SIL called several months ago and invited Drew and Hunter for a visit- we couldn't resist. It's win, win. 12 days of fun for them and equal days of peace for us!

When is was time for them to come home, not only were they ready- so were their friends. We took 6 with us to the airport. I don't know if it was because it was so late or they were delirious - but we asked, and they let us walk to the gate- like in the old days. It's was like 12:30am, no one was around, so we took the opportunity to have some fun!

Who Stole My Sanity.....

See what happens when there are no kids at home- you go crazy and start dreaming up insurmountable projects. Like painting every surface in the kitchen.

Friends at First Bite..

Today is Hunter's very first friends' birthday. The first time he met her, he bit her! She was only a couple of days old and just home from the hospital. She must have forgiven him, because they became fast friends. They took naps, learned to walk and talk, and play dress up together. Not much has changed in 13 years!

Wake Up Sleepy Jean.....

Drew and Hunter had to do a project for Spanish-Take pictures of a day in your life and label them in Spanish. They took pictures of their morning routine. Now I know why their lips are so rosey and my lipstick is missing!

Oh Mommy

Seriously Drew, what are you trying to say?

Friday, May 7, 2010

He did the Hoooookey Pokey

or at least in my mind he did. Tonight was the 8th grade dance. Drew fancied up with the help of his stylist Hunter, and went with a sweet girl M.

Hunter was so patient with him and took great pride and care of his hair and appearance. He even taught him how to swing his head just right so as to get his hair to lay just so. Unfortunately, Drew doesn't have the interest in his hair like Hunter does.

"The Untouchables"

After the dance-he had had enough of that tie; two hours is way too much fancy time for a guy whose uniform is tee shirts and cozy shorts.

Our son is so talented, isn't she lucky to be with him?

Off to the after party......Cheers to Junior High.

"Brothers from other Mothers"

and sisters for that matter. I love it when kids just show up - that seems to be the mantra these days. They come with food, instruments and lots of personality. Gone are the days of our "land line" ringing. They communicate with each other and make their own plans on cellphones. Which I LOVE. It is very peaceful not having the phone ring off the hook, which is what it would be like because they are ALWAYS texting, talking, facebooking, i-chatting with SOMEONE! And they seem to be "hanging out" together more.

Here's just a small portion of our extended family :)

Sunday Best

Today was Sunday School Teacher Appreciation- Joe and I got a bag full of goodies and sweet notes from our class. At the bottom of the bag was a note that said, "We were going through old pictures, came across this one and thought you would like to have it." Like to have it? I'd like to turn the clock back to that day!

The back was dated 8/26/06.
